What is worxLINK? Subcontractor Tracking and Load Sharing for Transport Companies
worxLINK is the private carrier network built into the worxTMS transport management system. It lets transport companies, couriers and owner-drivers share loads with subcontractors and still live track every shipment, see the POD and receive the invoice, all in one system. No more phoning subbies for updates or chasing paperwork.
The problem worxLINK solves
When a transport company subcontracts a load, it usually loses sight of it. The customer phones asking where the truck is, so you phone the subcontractor, who phones the driver. Then you wait days for the POD and the invoice, and if the subbie passes the load on again, you lose track completely.
worxLINK connects the worxTMS systems of every company involved, so the shipment, the live vehicle tracking, the status updates and the delivery documents stay visible to everyone in the chain.
How a worxLINK chain works
Here's an example of a load passed down a chain of transport companies:
Your customer→ Company A→ Company B→ Company C (owner, does the delivery)
- No limit on handoffs. A load can be passed from carrier to carrier to carrier, and live tracking is kept for every company in the chain.
- The last company in the chain owns the load. Only the owner can edit the shipment and update its status.
- Everyone else is an observer with the same view: driver, vehicle, live position, status and paperwork.
- Give back and take back. Ownership can be handed back up the chain if plans change.
Key features of worxLINK
1
Live tracking of subcontracted loads
See your subcontractor's vehicle on the map in real time, exactly like your own fleet. Share a worxLIVE tracking link with your customer so they can follow the delivery too, with no app or login.
2
PODs visible to the whole chain
When the driver uploads the proof of delivery (POD) or the e-POD is created, every company in the chain can see it straight away. Nobody has to chase PODs, and you can invoice your customer sooner.
3
Subcontractor invoices on the shipment
When your subcontractor invoices you for a load, the invoice number appears on the shipment card beside the customer reference. Click it to open the invoice inside worxTMS. Invoices are private: each one is visible only to the company it's addressed to, while PODs (which carry no prices) are shared with the whole chain.
4
The green worxLINK badge
A shipment that arrives through worxLINK shows a green worxLINK badge. It tells the receiving carrier the load came from a connected company, and that they can assign it to their own driver or pass it on to another connected carrier.
5
A private network, not a load board
You only share loads with companies you've chosen to connect with. worxLINK has no extra fees and is included with your worxTMS subscription.
How to connect with another company
1
Get their Company ID
Both companies need a worxTMS account. Ask the company you want to send loads to for their Company ID.
2
Send a connection request
Go to Settings → Carriers, add their Company ID and send a connection request. It works like a friend request.
3
They accept
The other company accepts your request on their Requests tab. Once accepted, they appear under your Connections and you can start sending them loads.
Tip: Connections work one way. If you send loads to each other, both companies add the other's Company ID and send a request.
Linked vs not linked carriers: On the Carriers tab you can also add a carrier without linking. Assigning a shipment to them then only records who did the load. With worxLINK, the shipment goes into the carrier's own worxTMS system, with live tracking and shared paperwork.
Who is worxLINK for?
- Small and medium transport companies that subcontract loads or do work for other carriers
- Freight brokers and logistics companies that need to track all their subcontractors in one place
- Couriers and owner-drivers who want more work from bigger transport companies
- Larger companies that want their subbies on one system for live tracking, PODs and invoices
Frequently asked questions
Does every company in the chain need worxTMS?
Yes. Each company needs its own worxTMS account to connect through worxLINK.
Does worxLINK cost extra?
No. worxLINK is included with worxTMS at no extra fee.
Can my subcontractor see my prices?
No. Each invoice is visible only to the company it's addressed to. PODs are shared because they carry no prices.
Who updates the status of a linked load?
Only the owner, which is the last company in the chain. Everyone else sees the updates live.
Can a subcontractor pass my load on again?
Yes. There's no limit on handoffs, and you keep live tracking and POD visibility however far down the chain the load goes.
